Modernize the visual library
I lead a project to refresh and expand the company visual library by creating contemporary illustrations that resonate with current design trends but also by looking for solutions to give to creative teams more autonomy and material to work with. By fostering a collaborative environment, the project seeks to enhance the company's visual communication and brand strategy.
Discipline: Brand design, Illustration
Tools: Illustrator, Figma, Procreate
Behind the scene
Objectives
This initiative aims to establish a dynamic, live library that employees can easily access and edit as needed, ensuring the visual assets remain relevant and versatile.
Obstacles
Finding a way to allow employees to access visuals assets and easily edit them without compromising the brand original look and feel. Ensuring that all employees were adequately trained to use the new library platform. Maintaining consistency in design standards and regular reviews.
Illustrations
One of my main ideas for this library was to build modular assets with components that could be added and removed. For instance, the same character could be standing, sitting, holding an object, have different clothes, etc. One original visual asset could come with multiple easy to manipulate iterations.
My goal was to enable communication related materiasl to look fresh and different over a longer period of time and to provide assets that can supplement a broader variety of narratives and campaigns.
Here is an example of our usage of the illustrations.
CONCLUSION
After evaluating various tools, Figma emerged as the ideal platform to achieve our project goals. Its real-time collaboration capabilities allow multiple team members to work on illustrations simultaneously, enhancing productivity and ensuring consistency across designs.
It ensures that the latest versions of assets are always accessible to all employees, regardless of their location. Additionally, Figma's robust version control and easy-to-use interface make it simple for employees to edit illustrations, maintaining the library's relevance and accuracy.
